Prabhas – The 3rd Most Desirable Personality in India

Venkata Satyanarayana Prabhas Raju Uppalapati, widely known a Prabhas, is a film actor of Indian Origin, best known for his work in South India’s Telegu Cinema or ‘Tollywood’. He debuted in 2002 with the Telegu Drama ‘Eshwar’. Over the years he has delivered successful performances in movies such as ‘Varsham’ in 2004, ‘Chatrapathi’ and ‘Chakram’ in 2005, ‘Darling’ in 2010, ‘Mr. Perfect’ in 2011 and ‘Mirchi’ in 2013.

He received world-wide acclaim for his titular role as Baahubali in 2005’s ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ and its sequel ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’. Both the movies were enormous hits on the Box office and played a critical role in catapulting Prabhas to his Mega Star image in India.

Prabhas is the third most desirable actor in India, with Salman Khan being the first and Hrithik Roshan taking the second position. He’s also Karnataka’s most searched celebrity on Google.

 Early life a+nd Education

Prabhas was born on 23 October 1979 to Siva Kumari and U. Suryanarayana Raju, a film producer, in Chennai, India. Prabhas has an elder brother called Pramod Uppalapati and an elder sister, Pragathi. He is the youngest of the three. Prabhas is the nephew of Telegu actor and former politician Uppalapati Krishnam Raju who gave him the label of “Young Rebel Star”.

He comes from the Mogalturu, a small village in the Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh.

Prabhas studied at the DNR School in Bhimavaram, Andhra Pradesh. He graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Technology from Hyderabad’s Sri Chaitanya College.

Career Rise

Prabhas debuted in the year 2002 with ‘Eshwar’ and delivered excellent performances for the next few years in movies like ‘Varsham’, ‘Adavi Raamudu’ and ‘Chakram’. He first worked with his ‘Baahubali’ director S. S. Rajamouli in 2005’s ‘Chatrapathi’; a movie so successful that it saw 100-day runs in approximately 55 centres across South India.

But now his macho screen presence earned him action roles in movies like ‘Pournami,'(2005) ‘Yogi and Munna’(2005), and ‘Bujjigadu’ (2008). Other successful films included ‘Billa’ and ‘Ek Niranjan’. He later showed his versatility as a romantic-comedy actor with movies like ‘Darling’ and ‘Mr. Perfect’ in 2010 and 2011 respectively, followed by 2013’s ‘Mirchi’, all of which were well received.

The biggest role of his career came in 2015, where he played the titular role in the film ‘Baahubali: The Beginning’ directed by S. S. Rajamouli. He reprised the role in the movie’s sequel ‘Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’ in 2017. While the first movie in the franchise became India’s fourth highest grossing movie ever, the Sequel was an even bigger hit, grossing over 1000 crores within just 10 days of its release and the first Indian movie to ever see such numbers.

Personal life

The 1.85 meter tall Prabhas is widely considered the most eligible bachelor in Tollywood. In an interview, he revealed that he is currently enjoying his single status and has no idea when he will get married. Following the release of ‘Baahubali: The Conclusion’ Prabhas claims to have received 6000 marriage proposals from his female fans all over the world.

Prabhas endorses Mahindra TUV 300 Car. After the success of ‘Baahubali 2’ in 2017, Prabhas was offered a whopping Rs 18 crore by advertisers from many sectors but he allegedly rejected the offers.
