Azharuddin’s first wife Naureen was played by Prachi Desai in the movie ‘Azhar’. Post the release and success of the movie, many are curious to know about what Naureen looks like and if she is just the same as depicted in the film.
Prachi Desai revealed that she met Naureen just for once in Hyderabad and described the woman as a ‘beautiful mystery’. Naureen is known to be a private person with a modern, broad-minded view of life. She was introduced to Azhar, when she was just 16. She had just given her board examinations and her parents met Azhar’s parents for an arranged marriage. Azhar has two sons by Naureen.
The shy Naureen was attracted to the equally shy Azhar; the two got married in the year 1987. They stayed in a joint family. Azhar looked up to his wife as his source of inspiration. But she was shattered to find that her husband was in relationship with actress Sangeeta Bijlani, when he announced in one of the award ceremonies that he would dedicate the award to Sangeeta.
Though Naureen and Azhar were divorced in 1996, they continued to remain friends. She believed that no matter how much she loved her husband, if he was not happy with her, she should set him free. It is another thing that Azharuddin divorced Sangeeta in 2010, after marrying her in 1996. The two women stood by Azhar during the match-fixing case.
Azhar and Naureen had two children, Ayazuddin and Assadudin. While teenager Ayazuddin died in a bike accident in 2011, the elder Assadudin is training to be a cricketer.
