Vir Das is an Indian comedian and an actor. He has done several Bollywood movies and stand-up comedy shows in India, as well as outside India.
Early Life and Background
Vir Das was born on 31st May, 1979 in Dehradun, Uttarakhand. He had lived in Africa and did his schooling from Indian Language School in Nigeria, Delhi and Shimla. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Knox College located in Illinois and studied in Economics and Theatre. After he completed his graduation, Vir was chosen for Moscow Art Theatre’s Stanislavsky Program.
Vir explored his stand-up comedy skills, while studying in Knox College. His first performance was, Brown Men Can’t Hump, in Knox’s Harbach Theatre. Having undergone skillful training in method acting for a period of six months, Vir performed eight plays with Moscow Arts Theatre.
He finally returned to India on 2003 and has performed more than 100 comedy shows in the metropolitan cities. Some of his shows like Bored of The Things!, Who let the Das Out?, VIRagra and Son of A Switch!, became a massive hit amongst the youngsters.
Vir started his television debut under Zoom Channel. He has also hosted a show in Star World called Top Drive Getaway. He was widely praised in Star One Channel’s The Great Indian Comedy Show. Vir began his first Bollywood role in 2006 and can be noticed in Vipul Shah’s movie called Namastey London.
Vir Das has acted in many Bollywood movies which include Delhi Belly, Revolver Rani, Go Goa Gone, Mastizaade, Badmaash Company and Love Aaj Kal.

After having a five year relationship with Shivani Mathur, he got married to her in October 2014. She is an event manager and runs her own company. Besides, she also manages Vir Das’ events. They met through mutual events when he was organized a house warming party for friends.
