Sonalee Kulkarni – career growth
After completing her education in Army School, Kendriya Vidyalaya and Fergusson College, Pune, she did a course in Journalism and Mass Communication in the same city. She is a skilled dancer and has been training as a Bharatnatyam dancer, right from her schooling days. She passed a beauty contest in her college, after which she got a few more modeling assignments and offers for advertisements.
Sonali Kulkarnee debuted at the age of 18 in a Marathi movie called Bakula Namdev Ghotale, for which she got the Zee Gaurav award for the Best Actress. In 2008, she got a role in a successful Marathi movie called Natarang, which she co-starred with the likes of Atul Kulkarni and Kishor Kadam. The movie even won her the Zee Gaurav Award for the Best Actress.
The strange similarity of her name with the acclaimed actress Sonali Kulkarni (who is also a part of ‘Good Road’ India’s Oscar Nomination for 2013) ran into a lot of confusion for both fans and film-makers.
Nevertheless, Sonalee Kulkarni has struck to her name and has continued to win praises for her dances and screen presence. In 2011, Sonali Kulkarnee even judged a Marathi dance show called ‘Naad Khula’. The following year, she was directed by Nitin Desai for another Marathi movie ‘Ajintha’ which won rave reviews for her performances.
With Grand Masti, Sonalee Kulkarni has truly arrived in mainstream Bollywood cinema. The movie has been a stupendous success and Sonalee has definitely benefited from her Bollywood debut as did others.
