The voluptuous Sonakshi Sinha has proved with her remarkable performance in Lootera that she is more than just a decorative figure as was evident in blockbusters like Rowdy Rathore and Dabangg.
 The 26 year old actress (born no June 2, 1987), Sonakshi Sinha, debuted opposite Salman Khan in the trend-setting blockbuster Dabangg (2010). She also went on to win the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut for the film.

 Sonakshi Sinha was born to actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha and Poonam Sinha. She has two elder twin brothers, Luv and Kussh Sinha.

Sonakshi learnt fashion designing at Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women’s University in Mumbai. She also walked the ramp for Lakme Fashion Week in 2008 and 2009. She was overweight in her college days, after which she managed to lose weight with a strict diet and exercising regime.

Sonakshi Sinha lost 30 kilos over 2 years to prepare for the role of ‘Rajo’ in Dabangg.  As her popularity grew, she began to grace the cover of popular magazines like Maxim and many other film and style mags.

Sonakshi Sinha was crowned as the lucky charm of Bollywood as most of her movies made business in excess of 100 crores like Dabangg, Rowdy Rathore,  Dabangg 2 and Son of Sardar. Her voluptuous figure blended well with the 40s plus heroes.  However, with Once Upon a Time Dobaara and Lootera, Sonakshi began to be paired with actors closer to her age.

Lootera is the landmark movie of Sonakshi Sinha in terms of sheer performance. Her performance in the film was no short of mesmerizing comparable with established actors like Kajol, Rani Mukherjee and Vidya Balan.

The Dabangg girl admits that she loved her sedentary lifestyle and it was definitely not easy for a girl like her to reduce from 90 kg to 60 kg in 2 years. Sonakshi Sinha’s workout involved abdominal crunches, cardio and spinning exercises, weight training.  She worked out for 2 hours daily. To keep her weight in check, Sonakshi Sinha checked herself regularly on the weighing machine. “The weighing machine was my best friend. I would always check how much weight I had gain or lost. If I saw that I added even a few grams, I would put in more effort, “ says she.

Sonakshi Sinha admits that she did try crash diets and failed.  So she decided to go the ideal way, she cut down on junk food totally, got rid of carbs and went on a healthy diet.  So, she went on a high protein diet with low carbs.  Sonakshi Sinha prefers hot yoga to aerobics and snacks every 3 hours.
Sonakshi Sinha’s tip for losing weight is to stop eating carbs after six in the evening and drink lots of green tea on a daily basis.
