Both the superstars were seated the minister’s table along with other guests. Salman graciously walked around the table, greeting everyone. When Salman reached SRK’s side, there was palpable tension in the air. Shah Rukh looked ahead so that he could avoid any awkward feeling. Salman tapped him on the shoulder and extended a handshake. A visibly happy Shah Rukh got up and hugged the Dabangg star.
Suddenly, everyone in the hall was interested and people began to click pictures of Salman – Shah Rukh patch up. A source added, “It is quite reassuring to see the two become friends again. Anyway I am a huge fan and lot of people want the Karan-Arjun of Bollywood to team up again. Good that Salman acknowledged SRK, or it would have looked quite awkward. While Salman was gracious, SRK’s hug and smile was touching. They didn’t speak to each other after that, though.” SRK and Salman were however seen on the side of Baba Siddique cheering him, while the leader looked visibly happy.
Shah Rukh Khan who is quite active on Twitter and Facebook, promoting his movie Chennai Express and expressing his daily musings reflected on the patch up in a metaphoric manner, “Finally u realize turning the page is the best feeling in the world, becos there is so much more to the book than the page u were stuck on.”
Earlier Salman Khan had said that the reason for the fight was such that it would not be resolved easily. He had stated, “We have had a little bit of personal issue. This is not the first time, it is about four years ago. We were very close for 20 years… There may come a time when these things get resolved but it will never be on a public platform. It will be a personal thing. It is a serious matter and it cannot be resolved by working in a film together or if someone asks us to try and resolve the matter. None else can resolve it for us, only we can do it…It will take time. It may happen someday.” (DNA)
Why did Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan fight in the first place ?
Trouble had brewed in between the two many times in spite of being close friends. Though they had patched on Farah Khan’ party in 2005, there was an ugly spat between SRK and Salman Khan at Katrina’s birthday party in 2008. The actress was so shaken up that she never celebrated her next birthday in Mumbai.
From what it appears, SRK had declined to be play guest appearance in a Salman film though the latter had obliged to do so in SRK’s Om Shanti Om. Also during that period, both actor were hosting game shows on television. Salman was doing the first season of Dus Ka Dum which turned out to be a hit while SRK hosted ‘Kya Aap Paanchvi Paas Se Tez Ho. Both bit tipsy, took potshots at each other and it became ugly. Salman of course also had felt that SRK who had stayed in his home, during his struggling days, was not reciprocating well enough, after he became a superstar.
Anyway bygones is bygone, let us congratulate Salman Khan and SRK, and their fans for the good news.
