Sai Pallavi Senthamarai, known by her stage name of Sai Pallavi is an upcoming Indian film actress who is best known for her work in the booming South Indian film industry. Pallavi is one of the few actors of the industry to have made a mark in 3 out of the four major South Indian language films; the Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam film industry. Pallavi’s debuted as a 16-year-old in the 2008 Tamil language film ‘Dhaam Dhoom’ starring acclaimed Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut but her name remained uncredited.
Pallavi debuted in 2015 with the coming-of-age Malayalam language musical rom-com ‘Premam’ which went on to achieve the status of a cult classic. She picked up several awards across various film award ceremonies in South India for her portrayal of Malar in the film, including a Filmfare Award for best female debut- South. She made her Telugu language debut with the film ‘Fidaa’ in 2017 which became a huge success with Pallavi receiving acclaim from critics and audience alike. Early Life and Education
Pallavi was born as Sai Pallavi Senthamarai on 9 May 1992 in the Niligiri district town of Kotagiri in the Indian state of Tamilnadu, which is her mother’s native place. She was raised in her hometown of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu in a Tamil-speaking family. Pallavi is the daughter of her parents, mother Radha and father Senthamara Kannan. She has one older sibling, a sister named Pooja who is also an actress.
Pallavi completed her primary and secondary education from Coimbatore and graduated with a matriculation. Always a bright student, Pallavi hoped to pursue a medical Degree for which she relocated to Tbilisi State Medical University, Tbilisi, Georgia from where she graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree, but decided to pursue a career in acting

The 5 feet 5 inch Pallavi is a trained dancer. She made her television debut as a participant on ‘Ungalil Yaar Adutha Prabhu Deva’, a dance reality show that aired on Vijay TV in 2008. She also made an appearance on the ETV Telegu dance show ‘Dhee Ultimate Dance Show’. Pallavi debuted on the silver screen as a leading actress with the 2015 film ‘Premam’ in which she portrayed the character of Malar. Pallavi was still a studying medicine at Tbilisi, George when she was offered the role by Director Alphonse Putharen. Pallavi came down to India during her holidays, completed the shoot and flew back to the States to complete her studies.
Upon the release of the film, Pallavi became an overnight sensation and the movie was declared a blockbuster with Pallavi becoming a favourite with the critics and audience alike. She won all major ‘Best Female Debut’ award in 2015 including Asianet Film Awards, Asiavision Awards, SIIMA Film Awards, Vanitha Film Awards and the prestigious Filmfare Award. Her next release was the 2016 film ‘Kali’ for which she received great reviews, earning a Filmfare best actress nomination, while she won an Asianet Film Award. Pallavi made her Telegu film debut in 2017 with Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Fidaa’, essaying the role of independent village girl Bhanumati and once again received great critical and commercial acclaim. She is slated to appear in the Tamil film ‘Karu’ and the Telegu film ‘MCA (Middle Class Abbayi)’, later this year.
Pallavi has not shared any updates about her romantic relationships. She claims that her job keeps her busy all the time which leaves her with no time to be involved in romantic relationships.
Pallavi considers South Indian actresses Jyothika and Simran her inspiration and also loves the work of Kamal Hassan and Mammoty. Apart from acting, Pallavi enjoys dancing and reading and is an ardent fan of Abhimanyu from the Mahabharata.
