The actress next appeared in Tamil movies like Jalsa in 2008, Kick in 2009 and Julayi in 2012, and established herself as one of the leading actress in Kollywood. She debuted in the Tamil movie industry in 2006 movie Kedi.

Ileana’s biography – How she grew from a model to a movie star
Ileana was born to Ronald D’Cruz and Samira in Mumbai, Maharashtra as their second child. Her elder sister is Farrah, younger brother Rhys and youngest sister Eileen. For about seven years during her childhood, she lived in Goa. Her mother who worked for a hotel took advice from the manager who said that she should suggest Ileana to take up modeling. He fixed a meeting with Marc Robinson. In January 2003 she created her first portfolio for modelling and it was a disaster, as Ileana puts it. Later she was seen in three advertisements – Fair and Lovely, Emami Talc and Electrolux.
Ileana was then called for an audition in 2005. Later the project got cancelled. However, she debuted in Y. V. S. Chowdhary’s Telugu romantic film Devadasu, which was first major commercial success of the year . The movie got her so much fame that she was awarded Filmfare Award for the Best Female Debutant – South. Later she underwent acting classes as during the filming she felt that she was lacking in few departments and wanted to really excel.
Her next film Pokiri was also a great financial success in which she played the role of an aerobic teacher who is harassed by police officer. The film became highest-grossing Telugu film then. Pokiri was then remade into Tamil with Asin in the lead and then as Wanted with Ayesha Takis playing the role that Ileana originally played.
Illeana ventured into the Tamil film industry with Kedi in 2006, the movie bombed. But still she went on to nab good amount of film officers, including Khatarnak opposite the talented Ravi Teja and other projects like Rakhi, Munna and more.
Ileana’s turning point towards success was 2007 film Aata in which she played the role of a college student named Satya. The next year she performed in Jalsa as a lead actor and received positive remarks from critics which fetched her Santosham Award and South Scope Style Award. She was also nominated for the Best Actress category at the 56th Filmfare Awards South. Her next film titled Kick was a mega success in 2009.
In 2012 Illeana appeared in a remake of 2009’s Hindi film 3 Idiots. The film was Nanban in Tamil and it was a financial success. Her next big hit movie was Julai in Telugu and it was the third biggest Telugu film in 2012. In 2012 she appeared in Hindi film Barfi! of Anurag Basu. Her performance in the movie has been well received and she grabbed Filmfare Best Female Debut Award and was also nominated for the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Ileana’s upcoming Hindi film is Phata Poster Nikla Hero and is scheduled to be released in August this year.
